Movies: Hancock

I movie that should be watched by everyone for one simple fact: Super Heros are not born but they are made by their attidude and their attire :). Will Smith is good and can play any role you throw at him!

Overall a great movie and great story line! Makes it to my DVD collection and ‘Swipe-a-DVD’ list. The more I talk, the more of the plot I will reveal, hence will not write anymore. So, go out and watch the movie.

Crude and its soaring prices have become the talk of the town for last few weeks now. Everybody is writing about the meteoric rise in prices and the aftermath of the same.

Business week editor Peter Coy and Senior Blogger Ed Wallace have gone into a constructive dialog on oil prices, speculation and demand-supply. Both of them, have come up with arguments on both sides of the topic starting with facts on supply (if you can call them facts, given very little info coming on reserves from House of Saud and Iran) and saying that we aren’t really short on oil, and its more information manipulation and hence speculation. Which is then countered by Peter and more importantly pressing the fact that speculators are an integral part of modern day markets and bring in the much needed liquidity and cushion required by real traders. This is then agreed to by Ed only to mention that speculation is not an issue but manipulation is! And given the real lack of information on oil markets, players and plays, it’s more likely looks like manipulation which has all major parties in-concert.

So where does this (oil and its glory days) end? This is how I think it will:

  • Overall this high-price oil will make economies and companies become more efficient and moving to other sources and hence substantial reduction in demand!  - Though China is the dark horse here… it’s population and industries run on cheap funding and huge subsidies
  • Arab nations becoming more transparent with oil reporting - keeps the markets more informed and hence more realistic prices  - not necessarily low!
  • Middle east becoming even more hostile - thanks to US intervention, growing social unrest and realisation that Oil is ending and world is moving away from it

So overall, this scenario of a 100+ dollar is going to stay for a couple of years atleast. Followed by some drastic chopping of fortunes (esp. those IB guys from that place which has ‘Gold’ in its name and speculators) and by 2015 we should be either at 200% of present oil-efficiency levels and moved to sources that are much more available! And if we have not please be ready to ration your own electricity and gas cause you won’t be able to afford it! :)

Yeah I know the thing is named ‘Kahani Hamare Mahabharat Ki’. Saw it for the first time today (has been airing this whole week). From the first look, the costumes suck - they are dark and make you feel sad. Though Ganga’s constume are perfect, white with blue stone jewelery.

Sets are aweful… they make the golden age of India look like the stone age. She could have done things better on this one.

Charecter choice… sad and ugly faces to start with. Somehow there is attractive faces in the industry. Every TD&H is an actor. Somehow can you please get some fresh lovely faces to my CRT (yeah I still have the CRT).

What else, the style of narration is as told about in my mythology and is done in the style of the first TV rendition of the Mahabharat by BR Chopra, with Time replaced by Ved Vyas here.

So overall, how does it stand… Story telling is ok, overall would watch it ONLY for the attraction of Mahabharat and not watch it for every other reason.

Not really sure but this has to be the bad broadband service in US. It looks like that everybody in this world has access to supply demand data and all the articles about why their is a speculative run on oil except for US energy department. Week after week they come in and say that all these high crude prices are all because of supply demand imbalances when the world knows it’s all these f**king banks and funds screwing the markets and general public (although this is making the world a more efficient - 5.4% reduction in US comsumption and less subsidized place - all those price hikes globally)
Let’s face it, when have the policy makers decided to come out and except the facts as they have. It suits them well, for they and their political bosses are funded by the ones who profit from the dis-information. The only problem it hurts them who voted their bosses to power. And, when these voters choose to revolt… only God knows what will happen then!

As for the speculators… their is always a buyer for a seller and somebody will get hurt in this mayhem! So, God forgive them and give them the ability to take that colossal pain that is going to come there way!

Just heard this song from Bachna Ae Haseeno… This song has some amazing lyrics and beautifully makes you fall in love with itself. This is a slow love ballad and not my kinda thing but still completely in love with this song already and it’s ‘On the Go!’. As of now, looks like the song has Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone on-screen. And they look splendid. The movie (as much as the story-line may eventually suck) has great colors and beauty and hence is still a must watch!

Saw the first trailer of the movie. Stars Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat. Looks really funny esp. after ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’. But overall the movie looks good and as of now - is on my ‘Swipe-Regular’ list. Would see more and it may change. Overall looks nice.

Have been kinda watching this on and off (and with MTV repeating it every evening 9 PM, its kinda hard to miss, when you are looking for music). After Guys taking it a little too far last week with Zorban Irani (that girl has s**t loads of attitude and I like her), the show had a decent twist this week. No of girls winning down by 1 to 1 and that girl now gets to choose the guy who wins the show. So, its turned from ‘run as free as you can’ to ‘dudes, get real! there are no free lunches’ for guys. They have to stay on till the end and they have to please every girl every week to not get f**ked at the end of the show when the lady winner chooses the other one!

Reminds me of:

Don’t be too sure of your GOOD TIMES!

You may not even realise, when they just walked out on you!

Latest RGV venture! As much as I liked Company, would have not seen the same had it not been for my gang for simple reason - its was a serious movie and was based on reality. The last thing I want to do in a movie is see reality - I have a life anyways for that! And for starters this is the reason, to not see this movie as well. To add to that, not one song which has been able to grab my attention in anyway; unknown cast and amazing run that RGV has been having lately (Sarkar Raj & RGV ki Aag, anybody) this movie is going straight to my ‘Wont-Swipe’ list. Sorry boss!

One In-Demand Guy: Ranbir Kapoor!

3 Hot Babes: Bipasha, Deepika, Minnisha!

One killer of an RD oldie: Bacchna ae Haseeno lo main aa gaya!

One Beautiful cutout with all the above, lots of bright colors and cool use of white: Bacchna Ae Haseeno! - The movie

One movie added Swipe-a-Preview List: Bacchna Ae Haseeno!

Just heard this song, it’s somewhere in the middle between being happy about being in love and sad about not being with your love. Will definitely make it to my list of favorite sad love songs. As of now, it’s ‘On the Go!’
