Movies: Narnia - Prince Caspian

Saw Prince Caspian yesterday. Overall feel of the movie is way darker than the first time around and more importantly much longer at 2:15 minutes. The movie is not even a shade of its original movie. But then, if you look at the movie as a standalone movie does well to hold its ground. The plot is OK and graphics good. I don’t have to talk about the leads, they act well. The biggest problem with all such sequels (as with Harry Potter) is that the movie is not a children’s movie anymore. It’s got more violence and politics. But lets face it, the movie has little more to offer than last time around and the movie still revolves around Aslan. The movie has the following learnings:
- Nobody can ever tell what would have been
- Faith is what leads to reality - you can’t get what you don’t believe in
- We all have to take our chances - We all have to fight our battles
- We all learn from the world we live in and then move on…
The movie does let you to believe that a second sequel is coming, but if this is what they are going to serve again, than I would seriously think twice about watching it.
But on a overall level a 6 on 10 and stays on ‘Swipe-Regular’ list and will not make it the ‘Swipe-a-Home-Video’ list.
prafulh, if you read the books you would see how this is a very complicated series…and in reality this story connects to the The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe much better than others in the 7 books series.
I do believe I have heard that one of the other books “Voyage of the Dawn Treader” has been greenlighted to go into production.
I wonder, and have no clue if there’s a plan to make all 7 books?
the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story in some ways and strayed in others… i heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not the case
